Restaurant Review — Mia Cucina, Powai (Mumbai) — The Best in Powai

mia2

Powai is slowly becoming a foodie’s heaven and this is the latest addition to the Italian restaurants here. Given the fact that we have Cafe Mangii (next door), Out of the Blues & Spaghetti Kitchen nearby, these guys had to be really good … and they are – by far the best Powai has to offer. No mean feat!

We had eaten at their Versova joint (now closed, no idea why) and it was a decent experience … but this one @Powai is far better. The décor is nice – with a central bar and seating all around. Caters more to the young crowd than families. Have a fair share of expat patrons. Also, the joint is a little small when compared to other restaurants here, but they make it up with very friendly staff and quick service.

Landed up there on a Sunday evening and it was full. We ordered while waiting at the bar and the staff was more than happy to oblige my wife with a customized Gnocchi dish (in basil & pesto sauce) which was not in the menu. It was one of the best she had had… we ordered Risotto and a Pasta Pomodoro further more in the main course, followed by White Cheesecake for deserts. A Sangria (white) and a glass of house wine made it just perfect (they should have better variety of Indian whites though).

The Risotto el Pollo was just amazing, far better than what I have had at the Café Mangi’s and Out of The Blues even at Khar. The Pasta could have been better, the flavours were too strong for this dish. The cheese cake was a disappointment … At 2600+ for 3 adults, no starters and 2 drinks, Mia Cucina Powai is a tad little expensive but as we said, it is the best that Powai has to offer.

Must visit if in Powai … Would recommend this place compared to all the other Italian restaurants in the area.
